Here at TEFC our Children's Ministry is known as "Son Station". We exist to help develop children that want to read their Bible, pray, memorize scripture and share their faith. Our goal is to come alongside parents and help them to lay the foundation of a Christ-centered life.
During the past week I have been trying to do my best to research and pray about how I can support the parents of our church as we all try and navigate our families through this time. Deuteronomy 6 tells us, as parents, to teach our children diligently how to love the Lord with all of our heart, soul and might. The bible tells us that parents are to be the main spiritual influence and the church is there to come alongside parents to help teach children about the Lord. For the 13 years I have been in ministry, this “help” the church offered has been Sunday morning children’s church, Wednesday Night Programs and different events along the way. We are now going into unchartered territory. We are not able to meet together for the foreseeable future and that breaks my heart.
In some ways, though, my ministry at the church has not changed. I have been tasked to come alongside families and I intend to continue to do just that. To be honest, I am still trying to figure out what exactly that looks like now. I have a couple ideas and I would love your feedback and suggestions.
The first idea I had is to “meet” with the kids online. I am wondering what you, the parents, would prefer. Would you like me to send everyone an invite to zoom or would you like me to create a private FB group that we could meet in. Please send me a text and let me know what you prefer. I would love to be able to meet with your kids tomorrow evening (3/22) for the first time. Another idea I had is to send different resources I find through email that might help as you teach your children about the Lord in fun and engaging ways. Please send me an email at email@example.com and let me know you would like to be a part of those emails.
Finally, I am working on a fun Easter surprise for all of our families so keep your eyes posted on our website, FB page and texts to see what we have planned. I pray this season is short lived so I can hug all of your kids again and we can meet in person again, but I am trusting that God will work all of this out for our good and His glory.
In HIS grip,
During our Corporate Worship time we offer programs for Children infant to 5th grade. We have three different classes, in which they all use GROW curriculum. we have nursery care for 0-3 yrs, early elementary class for 4 yrs - 1st grade and an older Elementary class for 2nd grade - 5th grade.
Wednesday night programs begin at 6:30 pm. There is nursery care (0-3 yrs) for those parents that are helping in children's ministry, youth ministry or attending an adult small group. during this time. Programs for children 4 yrs to 6th grade run from 6:30 pm until 7:45 pm during the school year. We use curriculum called GROW, where we play games, sing songs and learn scripture.
